Are You Romantic or Libertine?

From the excerpt " Are You Romantic Or Libertine"by M. Scott Peck. M.D. is actually the excerpt from his best selling book, " The Road Less Traveled". This is a little about the author M.Scott Peck, M.D. he was an American psychiatrist and he was born in New York. The book " The Road Less Traveled" was published in 1987 and the book was very popular because the content and the attribution is based largely on his experiences as a psychiatrist and a person. The excerpt is based on the second section in his book "The Road Less Traveled" that talk more about love and his consider it as a nature love and driving force behind spiritual growth. In the excerpt, it has stated that love is paradox just because most dictionaries do not define love but only describe its symptoms. It did not explain the mix feelings of hatred and resentment that human beings have at the same time. According to the author, since love is hard to define one can only know love by its "symptoms".  which is an intense ambivalence feeling of affection and resentment, with strong longing to be with the beloved object. After that, romance has been defined as a prevailing sense of wonder or mystery surrounding the mutual attract person.   Unfortunately, since love is different of set of thinking and feeling, people need to consort to "something" and the thing is known as "romance ritual" that engaged romantic activity among people. Accordingly, there are two kinds of romance ritual. For the first is obligatory romance where the lover will celebrate the beloved object's birthday, getting her a gift for any special day or acknowledging their anniversary.  Next, optional romance where the lover will try to come out with different kinds of ideas, big or small in order to impress or to assure they are still in the beloved object's good graces such as sending funny greeting cards, candle light dinners weekend gateways and whole lot more.- Critical Literacy (com 2533). Both of them are differ from courtly love which is a relationship that is built on the basis of the unexplained feelings that one has over a person. The person that are practiced in courtly love are known as the romantic and when the person become a romantic person, they will treat their beloved as something that very special and precious and something that very hard to posses. In contrast, the people of the darker side or oppose of courtly love is known as a libertine. This is because they manipulate the romantic code and conduct not because to attain the ideal love but only for their own sheer personal delight. The most famous person that developed the concepts of libertine adventurer and writer the  Giacomo Casanova. For the last, the author want the readers to know weather to being romantic or libertine. After that, people can differentiates the benefits or disadvantages  become a romantic person or libertine. In my point of view, the excerpt is really interesting because it make me thing deeply whether to become a romantic or libertine and what are the outcomes to become like that and the quotations that really capture my attraction is the question" should one put aside his or her personal feeling and put  the beloved object's feeling first?" . what do you think about it..???

who are your friends?

Who are your friends? Is  they are boys or girl?Since last thursday are the Friendship Days in colleges, i would like to write up about the friends issues. Before that, let we define first about the meaning of friends.  What actually meaning by friends itself?Friends are actually defined as a person that will share a same goal with us in term of behavior, opinion or how the way to act in a society. In other meaning, "Friendship, as understood here, is a distinctively personal relationship that is grounded in a concern on the part of each friend for the welfare of the other, for the other's sake, and that involves some degree of intimacy. As such, friendship is undoubtedly central to our lives, in part because the special concern we have for our friends must have a place within a broader set of concerns, including moral concerns, and in part because our friends can help shape who we are as persons. Given this centrality, important questions arise concerning the justification of friendship and, in this context, whether it is permissible to “trade up” when someone new comes along, as well as concerning the possibility of reconciling the demands of friendship with the demands of morality in cases in which the two seem to conflict." by  The Stanford Encyclupedoa of Philosophy.I also being interested  with a quotation which is " whenever A friend is someone we turn to when our spirits need a lift.A friend is someone we treasure for our friendship is a gift.A friend is someone who fills our lives with beauty, joy and grace. And makes the world we live in a better and happier place. From the quotations above, it is really shows that friends plays a important part in each life. without friends, people will not get any happiness in life. In contrary, what happened to the friends that are fickle? What are you feelings about?Fickle friends is erratic behavior", "fickle weather", "mercurial twists of temperament", "a quicksilver character, cool and willful at one moment, utterly fragile the next"- according to http://www.mnemonicdictionary.com. Then, according to the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary,  the meaning of ambivalent is having or showing both good and bad feeling about something.  so, friends those who are fickle and ambivalent are better to avoid in order to not facing any unexpected thing happens. From the excerpt by Kirsten Weir, "Fickle Friends" it is actually give the audience views about the fickle or ambivalent friendship which is give a bad or negative effect towards the other friends.  For example, as stated in the excerpt, the research that was done blood pressure were typically higher when individuals encountered ambivalent friends than when they saw a supportive friends. Then, other research also suggest that ambivalent friends can lower resistance to stress. this is because the more ambivalent friends a person had, the higher his or her heart rate and blood pressure were. In conclusion, the excerpt shows the reader about which kind of friend are better to befriends. As stated by William Ellery, sincerity, truth, faithfulness, come into the very essence of friendship.

As stated by www.wikipedia.org.com"The film shows the impact on the development of the personal computer of the rivalry between Apple Computer and Microsoft. The rivalry happened in  the time period from the early 1970s to 1997, when Steve Jobs ( Noah Wyle) and Bill Gates (Anthony Michael Hall) develop a partnership after Jobs returns to Apple Computer.

The movie was starred by those who are talented actor such as Noah Wyle, Anthony Michael Hall, Joey Slotnick, John Di Maggio, Josh Hopkins, Jeffrey Nordling and Noah Wyle is the main actor as Steve Jobs in this movie. His action really can make the audience see the truth about Steve Jobs. The film is actually tell the readers about the revolution of computer technologies.

The first Machintosh was produced by Steve Jobs and the film also show the audience about the rivalry and the struggling of Steve jobs during his early life of education in college, the strive of himself to continue with his ingenious idea about the invention of useful  and powerful technology and to built up the global corporate empires of Apple Computer Corporation and Microsoft Inc. Thinking Folly?

~THINKING FOLLY~

From the excerpt entitle as Thinking Folly by Eckhart Tollle is told about the thinking process towards people in life. The famous and well known book by Eckhart is " The Power Of Now". He is one of thinker that assumed people actually do not thinking for make a benefits but the minds that are actually possessed people.
Echart Tolle's occupation is as a writer or public speaker and he was experienced as contemporaneous spiritual teacher and he is the person that who is not aligned with any particular religion or traditions. Eckhrat Tolle was born on 1948 at Lunen Germany.
After i have read the excerpt i can conclude that the author tries to conveys the message that thinking process is  one of important part that can shape or represents people itself. In my opinion, Eckhart come up with the statement or philosophy just because affected by his background. For example, according to www.wikipedia.org. his childhood time was unhappy, particularly his early childhood in Germany. After that, his parents fought and eventually separated, and he felt alienated from a hostile school environment. Eckhart also experienced during World War Two that can lead his depressed by his experienced and lead him to thinking for a lot and come up with the relevant philosopher about people's life. Although Eckhart was experienced many hardship in his life, he still can survive his life just because he thinking for the best for himself and tries o make a transformation in his life not immitate from his track record.
According to the excerpt by Eckhart Tolle, mind is essentially a survival machine that attack and defense against other minds, gathering, storing and analyzing information but after all that good things that minds can act, not all of the results are creative. He also stated that thinking process creates an opaque screen of concepts, labels, images, words, judgement and definitions that blocks all true relationship. From what has been stated by Eckhart Tolle, he wants to let people know that all the things that happened to any people are based from how and what the people thinking for themselves.
Afterward, thinking also has been defined as a disease by the author just because it is not so much that people use the mind wrongly but people are actually do not use the mind at all. The reality is people are act like a slave that follow the mind thinking. It is meaning by the possesses.
As a conclusion people are need to use their mind to think wisely and try to transform from worse to better. Do not let your mind possessed yourself and controlled it with a good thinking.

steve jobs

Do you know about Steve Jobs? Who is he? and what contribution that he was gives toward people life?
There is a little bit about Steve Jobs, his full name is Steven Paul Jobs, was born on 24 february 1955 in San Francisco, california, U.S. he also become  as Co-founder, Chairman and CEO, Apple Inc,  Co-founder and CEO, Pixar, Co-founder and CEO, Next Inc, and for the most precious think about him is , he was widely recognized by other people as a charismatic forge of the personal computer revolution  through the invention of Apple. Steve Jobs was death in October of 2011.
From the excerpt of The Steve Jobs Nobody Knew by Jeff Goodell, the content of the excerpt is about Steve Jobs's life. At the first time i go through the excerpt, the thing that cross in my mind is what the intention or messages that Jeff Goodell try to convey to the readers about Steve Jobs actually? Then, after i have gone troughs the excerpt until the end i got something that can me impressed about him. From the excerpt, Jeff Goodell is actually tries to conveys or delivered his messages that Steve Jobs's successfullness is actually causes from his attitudes.Based on what that Jeff Goodell assumed about Steve Jobs is he was an abrasive man personality and he is unapologetic person.
Steve Jobs also like to act cruelly towards other employees, he love to tossing them aside. From one side of opinion, people might think that he is only a cruel and arrogant employer. Nevertheless, i think Steve Jobs has his own right to do like that towards his employees just because he want to make improvement for his company. After that, Steve Jobs also described by the author as a person that never believe on the consumers right. Steve Jobs always claimed that he is the one that can do any decision and no one can influenced him. For me it is one of a good example that can be imitates by others because we need to have a strong self esteem and confident level in order to achieve any target or ambition. People really need to put the good looks on themselves to ensure have a strength and can become a endure person  when facing any failure or obstacles.
So, i think i will make Steve Jobs as one of my idol in term his attitudes to make a move up in life. Successful without hardship do not precious as a hardship before success.
